Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said earlier this month that the government will not rest until “exemplary punishment” is imposed on the perpetrators of a suicide attack inside the University of Karachi that killed four people, including three Chinese.
As he paid his condolences in Islamabad, he said the country was shocked and saddened by the terrible loss.
“We fully condemn this cowardice and will never forgive the enemies of Pakistan and China’s all-weather strategic partnership. We will also not allow anyone to undermine our ironclad friendship. Brotherhood is not in vain It won’t.”
Bilawal promised that authorities would do their best to ensure the safety of Chinese people in Pakistan and provide maximum security. “You are our guest and we have decided to ensure your safety and comfort in our country.
He vowed, “The whole nation expresses our condolences to the families of the dead. We cannot bring the deceased back, but we will not rest until we set an example for those who have committed this heinous act.”
The foreign minister said Pakistan-China relations have been tested for a long time and the two countries will face all challenges together and become stronger.
He said the suicide attack at the University of Karachi was carried out using the rights of the Baloch as an ‘excuse’.
“I know that all Pakistanis are proud of our hospitality and value taking care of our friends. [but] We are also internationally renowned. Neither Cindy Pakistani nor Baloch Pakistani will tolerate terrorism targeting our guests.”
Over the past decade, Pakistanis have seen their citizens being targeted using their religion, reiterating that the rights of the Baloch were used as “excuses” for carrying out terrorist attacks on universities.
“These people left their hometowns and came here to educate our people. This attack happened not only on that individual, but also on the Pakistan-China friendship. Now it is the responsibility of all Pakistanis to proceed with this issue as if it were an issue. We attack our brothers and sisters.
“Together we must ensure that such terrorist attacks are not tolerated. We will ensure that the families of these people and our public get justice.”
He promised that Pakistan would succeed in the war on terror and show the world that those who believe could attack Pakistan-China friendship will not succeed.
