Whereabouts of missing Karachi teenage girl Dua traced: Sindh CM – Pakistan

Sindh Minister Murad Ali Shah said last week that they had tracked down a teenage girl, Dua Jera, who was suspected of being kidnapped in Karachi’s al Falah district.

Shah didn’t provide details because he said the problem was “sensitive”.

Certain media reports claimed that the girl was found in Lahore. However, Lahore police denied the report and said a search to find the girl was ongoing.

Lahore DIG (Operations) Dr Mohammad Abid Khan said that Karachi police had provided Lahore police with a copy of the girl. Nikanama (line).

The police are looking for the girl at the address written on the marriage registration form,” he said.

“The real truth will only come out when she recovers. Lahore police are in constant contact with Karachi police,” he said. Officials said a team has been formed and that Dua will be found soon.

The incident initially provoked a strong reaction, especially on social media, which has prompted authorities to pay attention. According to police, 14-year-old Dua, a 14-year-old girl, was kidnapped on April 16 while leaving her house to dispose of her trash.

On Saturday, police investigators investigating the case turned to intelligence agencies for technical assistance to locate the teenager. The Director of the Anti-Violent Crime Cell said the Federal Investigation Agency’s Cyber Crime Wing (CCW), with its expertise in social media group access, is also providing technical assistance.

Separately, the FIA’s CCW Director Imran Riaz visited Dua’s home last week with a team of four including a forensic expert, a technical analyst, a female investigator and a female psychologist.

He said the FIA ”Google, Samsung, [an] Online gaming platform”.

The Sindh government has been criticized since the incident. Haleem Adil Sheikh, the opposition leader of the Sindh parliament, said the police were not taking the case seriously.

A PTI leader accused the authorities of “misleading” the girl’s parents and said “the lack of seriousness by the police is a matter of concern.”

Sheikh added that police and local government did not appear to have recovered the girl. Instead of carrying out a mission, police added that it was allegedly involved in the girl’s “character assassination”.

The PTI leader also advised PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari to focus on Sindh instead of traveling abroad.
