Imran to chair party meeting on Azadi March date today – Pakistan

PESHAWAR: A key committee of Pakistan’s Tehreek-i-Insaf will meet today (Sunday) to determine the date of the frenzied long march in Islamabad.

The key committee meeting will be chaired by Imran Khan, former Prime Minister and PTI President, who has already arrived in the provincial capital.

Members of the core committee are also starting to reach Peshawar, the PTI leader told Dawn.

At a public rally in Multan on Friday, Imran Khan announced that the date of the Azadi march in Islamabad would be decided at a PTI’s key committee meeting in Peshawar on Sunday. He also announced that the expected date would be between the 25th and the 29th.

In addition to determining the date of the long march, the PTI leader said the core committee will also discuss the preparations needed for the march.

“The core committee will also develop a plan on how to handle the anticipated arrests of PTI leaders and road blockages to prevent them from marching to Islamabad,” he said.

When asked about the time and location of the core committee meeting, he said, it had not yet been decided.
