46 states confirm participation in OIC moot: FM Qureshi – Newspaper

Lahore: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Kureshi said on Saturday that foreign ministers from 46 Islamic countries have confirmed their participation in the Organization for Islamic Cooperation (OIC) meeting.

However, the foreign minister told media in Multan that the number of participating countries could rise further. He said, “I earnestly ask all opposition leaders to cooperate and not interfere with the OIC meeting.”

He said the opposition should cooperate. [with the government] It has been a long time since the OIC conference held in Pakistan. The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that “Pakistan is not the country hosting the OIC meeting”.

Qureshi emphasized the importance of the meeting scheduled for March 22 and 23 in Islamabad, saying the meeting is expected to discuss Afghanistan, Kashmir, Palestine and other international issues, including Islamophobia.

Prime Minister Kureshi said Pakistan has issued a balanced statement on the Russia-Ukraine war and will propose resolving the issue through dialogue.

Regarding the problem of Pakistani students stranded in Ukraine, he said some of them have arrived safely and others will be deported soon.

He also claimed that the C130 aircraft would be sent to Ukraine on a humanitarian basis to provide food and other necessities.

When asked about the opposition’s no-confidence measures against the prime minister, Prime Minister Qureshi believed no member of the ruling Pakistani Tehrikyinsaf would sell his votes and was confident they would win the no-confidence motion. .

When asked about PTI MNA’s latest video statement about Ahmad Hassan Dehar’s no-confidence vote decision, the minister said he would hold a meeting with the MNA and address his concerns.
