The overnight attack on the Frontier Corps (FC) fortress in the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa left three security officers martyred and 18 injured, local police (DPO) Waqar Ahmad said Wednesday.
Ahmad said the wounded were taken to a local hospital, a state of emergency was declared and more troops were sent to the area.
The DPO said in a statement that three terrorists were killed in a gunfight that began late Tuesday night and continued until this morning.
The incident came days after four soldiers were martyred in the Hassan Kel district of North Waziristan during a gunfight with terrorists trying to infiltrate Pakistan in Afghanistan on the night of March 23-24.
A terrorist group attempted to infiltrate Pakistan at midnight, but failed due to “military vigilance and timely response”, according to a statement released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
“The terrorists failed and fled and suffered heavy casualties, according to intelligence reports,” the statement said.
